Congratulations to  James Campbell, our 2026 Scholarship winner!  James  graduated from Benet Academy High School in Lisle, Illinois, on May 31st 2026 with high honors, and throughout high school he was named an Illinois State Scholar, maintained a 95% GPA over all four years, scored a 33 on the ACT, and took 8 AP classes. He was also a member of National Honor Society, Mock Trial Club, and Benet Buddies, which works with the special needs community through events like Special Olympics and Seaspar.

James has been swimming since he was 5 years old. He was selected as the captain of the Benet Swim Team in high school and swam Varsity all 4 years. He also swam  with  the Hornet Swim Club out of Downers Grove. He plans to continue swimming at the collegiate level at Illinois Wesleyan. He began coaching when he was 15 years old at Huntington Swim and Tennis Club, a small neighborhood pool in Naperville, Illinois, which is a part of the Naperville Swim Conference (NSC).  James has been the head age-group coach for the 11-12s and 9-10s during his tenure at Huntington. He also had the privilege of helping coach the younger swimmers of his club team, Hornet Swim Club. James has coached at  numerous Special Olympics swim events through Benet Buddies. He has been around swimming his whole life, and coaching has given him a deeper love for the sport.

                This Fall, at Illinois Wesleyan University, James will swim and carry  a double major in Political Science and Psychology on a Pre-Law track. He wants to work in sports psychology in the future and help athletes navigate their own mental health. Outside of coaching, he loves watching sports, listening to music, and hanging out with friends. He hopes to have the opportunity to study abroad while in college and plans to find ways to continue coaching while at school. He also plans to continue coaching with Huntington, hopefully for the next few summers.
